I thought I should put up all the "Tintin" art that I haven't posted here yet, slashy and otherwise :3

PREPARE FOR COLOURFUL SPAM~!

My very first "Tintin" fan art:

I'm not too keen on Haddock's face, but I still quite like Tintin's -- I really like Snowy xD (even if he's way too big haha)

GIANT PICTURE IS GIAAAANT:

... yeah. Tintin and Haddock having an adventure!

Me pretending to be clever:

I don't really like the way I drew Tintin or Haddock for this picture (they're both so hard to draw!! oh well, it's not like I mind practicing them xD), I do like Allan and Tom -- and I'm still happy with Nestor. Oh, Nestor <3

Further movie commentary:

Just highlighting two of the main differences between Tintin and Haddock's dynamic / characterisation in the film compared to the canon:

1. In the film Haddock became a kind of pseudo-mentor-figure and also the comic relief; which isn't to say he isn't used as comic relief in the canon -- just that his comedy in the film was more "silly slapstick coupled with an even sillier personality", as opposed to "ha ha Haddock tripped again and now he's mad, his life sucks" xDDD

2. The drinking. Tintin was a million times more damning of Haddock's alcoholism in the film than in the canon, which I understand as necessary for the film's young audience, but I didn't enjoy the saccharine (haha) plot line they paired with it. I didn't mind the filmmakers' assumption that Haddock drinks out of self-loathing (it's a fair assessment), but I don't think the sombreness of this fact matched up with the rest of his characterisation. He didn't have enough "sombre" moments to really sell it for me.

TL;DR: I wish they'd tapped into Haddock's depth more than they did.

I also wish they'd animated him as a bit more handsome -- because he is (also I'm shallow) -- someone needs to show the animators "Tintin and the Picaros" because he is just.. ugh.. SO GORGEOUS xD

.... I'm really worried that in the second film they'll depict him at his "Seven Crystal Balls" stage of development (i.e. ridiculous rich countryman who goes horse-riding and wears monocles because he thinks he ought to) ... I want modern audiences who haven't read the canon to know his sweetness and bravery -- not just his occasional obtuseness ;)

WOW OK SORRY THAT TURNED INTO A FILM RANT. DON'T MIND ME.
